The Historian Behind The Case
LINDSEY FITZHARRIS has made a career of uncovering the extraordinary—and often grisly—stories hidden in the history of medicine. The New York Times bestselling author of The Butchering Art and The Facemaker, she brings forgotten medical pioneers and their worlds vividly back to life.
In Sleuth-Hound, Fitzharris turns her attention to Dr. Joseph Bell—and to a story stranger than fiction. From the medical wards of Victorian Edinburgh to real murder investigations, Bell's remarkable life reveals how the methods that inspired Sherlock Holmes also helped shape modern forensic science.
